Just when I was wondering what Rachel Ray’s claim to fame was, I read in today’s newspaper that Dunkin Donuts have pulled an online ad featuring the celebrity “whoknowswhat” because she was wearing an Arab Headdress called a Keffiyeh or Gutrah because it symbolizes support for terrorism. So did they ban guns and bombs…naaah! An ad with a head dress around someone’s neck…..and viola that stirs a debate..

What they should do is ban the production of guns and bombs, increase production of donuts and maybe even hand them out free…sugar would sweeten your life…and you wouldn’t have terrorism or wars…Nutty solution…but do able.

BTW….there used to be a DD outlet in Souq Sharq and the Al Bahar Center in Hawalli…they’ve both disappeared – I used to have a 10% discount courtesy my employer’s special deal with them….need donut, no sugar….

Chop the onions into small bits. Saute in oil, till they become soft and translucent. chop the tomatoes into little bits and add to the onions. Saute for Some more time to cook the tomatoes . Beat the eggs along with a little milk. pour egg mixture into the pan. Chop and add the chilies and cook till it reaches the desired consistency.

Oilgae

Mostly seen as the muck that grows in fish tanks and ponds, this muck may be what is going to bring relief to growing food prices. While Dubya and America blames the rise of food prices on India and China, because the US needs to divert corn to make bio-fuels, research is being carried out to ease the pain. Pain that is more severe due to India and China controlling exports so that the prices of food grains back home will remain low.

Oil yields from algae have been found to be more than those produced by other oil seeds. Moreover, algae requires carbon dioxide, which is the main cause of global warming. Algae farms are now being set up on an experimental basis near power plants where smokestacks feed the farms with carbon dioxide. Research is also being carried out to genetically modify algae to increase the oil yields.

As a sort of domino effect, the increased usage of algae to produce bio-fuels, should lead to a reduction in the dependence on food grains to produce bio-fuels, which should result in decreasing food prices and scarcity of food grains.

With the demand for fuels ever on the rise, the cultivation of algae should be controlled, or it would lead to land under cultivation for food crops being transformed into algae farms.

O Peter!

A call from a friend prompted me to search for the site called “peter answers”. Initially there was no sane explanation to explain how my friend was describing how the site was giving him exact answers to the questions he was asking.

A little research of course laid bare the M.O.behind asking questions and getting those answers. You need to build a little myth around peter just so that everyone gets into the mood, but once you start demonstrating the powers of Peter and get everyone involved it should be fun
