A couple of anecdotes that had me smiling..

A man announced loudly at a dinner party; “In my home, I make all the major decisions and my wife makes the rest. Yes, when it comes to my family’s stand on whether the US should invade a country, whether the government should bailout bad debts…I make all the decisions..My wife takes care of the other details, about running the household and the kids etc. “

“I am the head of my family”, announced the newly wed gentleman. “My wife is the neck; she can turn me anyway she wants to”

Here dwells happiness

Special day is around. All the major supermarkets and shops are storing stuff for the special day. Anyone who heard Linda on RK FM 997 a couple of days ago plugging the goods and services of a major supermarket knows what I am talking about.

Its as though there was a gag order not to use the V word.  Well if the word can’t be said then hypocritical interjection in the ads should be avoided as well.

The news papers are full of ads and the flower shops are red with passion. some Eateries are having a special package tomorrow for couples. With threats of disruption of any celebrations and public display by a section of society, the relevance of what the so called saint did for lovers is only increased, adding legitimacy to the worlds biggest marketing gimmick. A gimmick that adds to the bottom line of gift producers and leaves a hole in the pocket of many a man.

Incidentally, India and the Middle East are the two areas that are able to see through this gimmick

Happy Valentine’s Day.

There is little evidence to prove that Jesus Christ was born on the 25th of December, yet the celebrations and traditions that surround this date continue. Over time Christmas has become more about partying, the big fat guy in the red suit, buying expensive gifts, another reason to get drunk and such things.

People get so engrossed in the spirit of the season, they forget the actual goodness that Jesus stood for. While the goodness spread through carols and church services have always been a part of the celebration we forget to care for the poor, to give to the needy, to give back to society what it has given us. Let us take this opportunity, make Christmas an excuse to do something good which affects the life of the needy..

Merry Christmas

Having discovered PO while reading Edward de Bono’s Lateral thinking, I have also found out that PO in Hawaiian mythology is the feminine force in the universe, linked to earth, darkness and night. Her male counterpart being Ao. PO is also one of the Teletubbies.

Going back to thinking laterally; PO is to be used a prefix to a statement which is supposed to provoke forward action.

Logical thinking being a selective process which includes the management of NO. Lateral thinking is the process of management of PO.
